The Easiest Way To Deep Condition Your Hair

by Nancy on May 2, 2013

Do you rarely deep condition your hair because the traditional method is such a hassle? You know the drill – wash hair, put in conditioner, wrap your head in towel for 20-30 minutes, wash hair again. It’s a pain walking around with your hair in a towel and having water drip down your neck. Additionally if you color your hair you want to avoid multiple washings whenever you can.

In the December 2012 issue of ShopSmart magazine, I read this tip:

For dry brittle or damaged hair, Mark Garrison of Mark Garrison Salong recommends “conditioning in reverse.” That means putting conditioner on dry hair, letting it sit for at least 5 minutes, then washing.

Intrigued I tried it and all I have to say is – genius! It’s easy to get up on a weekend morning, pull some conditioner through your hair, scrunch it back, go about your business and then pop in the shower and wash your hair as normal. (Added bonus: only use one towel for your hair instead of two with the traditional method.)

I use Joico’s K Pak Deep Penetrating Reconstructer because that’s what I happen to have around. You could also try several homemade recipes like this one using coconut oil.

I will have to try this…it’s way more appealing than spending all that time wrapped up in a towel! (Great pic!)
