Goodbye iGoogle, Hello Protopage

1 copyThere was a lot of hooha in July of last year when Google announced that their popular iGoogle site would be shut down in November of this year.  For those of you who don’t use it, iGoogle is a personalized home page, or web portal, used by millions of people around the world to keep track of websites and blogs they read regularly on the Internet.  Google’s decision was based on their focus on the social media site Google+ and the rise of the web and mobile apps.

But if you love iGoogle, don’t despair!  There’s lots of alternatives.  My favorite is Protopage.  You can use Protopage to read your choice of news and blogs, keep bookmarks, to-do lists, sticky notes, and much more.

I switched over a few months ago and love it.  I’ve got my daily news on the homepage tab, and I organize the RSS feeds of all the blogs I read on other tabs by category.  Protopage allows me to combine bookmarks and RSS feeds on the same tab so everything about food is on the Food/Drink tab, all the animal love is under the Animal tab, etc.

If you’re looking to get your online life more organized, check out Protopage. It may be the solution for you!
