Preparing for Alzheimer’s?

by Nancy on March 8, 2013

Chances are you know someone with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. Chances are you’ll be in that position one day too.

This week I was moved to tears by a short (6-minute) TED video, entitled “How I’m Preparing To Get Alzheimer’s” by global development expert Alanna Shaikh. Alanna’s father suffers from Alzheimer’s. From observing her father’s decline Alanna chose to take three concrete steps to prepare herself in case she develops Alzheimer’s disease, too. It is moving important advice anyone could benefit from. Watch it.

Please put me in a chair in the barnyard. Please. Next to a hammer, some nails and a pile of wood. Maybe I’ll make something. Maybe I won’t. But I will be happy.

THAT is a very good idea. Hammering nails. I will remember it for you – ha!
