Jalapeño Margarita

by Joan on February 23, 2013

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAIn honor of National Margarita Day (It was yesterday, but should’t EVERY day be National Margarita Day?) I’m sharing some awesome margarita love with you.

No more words.  Just go make the margarita.  Now.

Jalapeño Margarita

  • 2 oz. good tequila
  • 1.5 oz. triple sec, or if you’re feeling fancy, Cointreau
  • 1.5 ounces fresh squeezed lime juice
  • 2 slices jalapeno, 3 if you’re brave

Put everything into an ice-filled shaker.  Shake like crazy.  Strain into a small salt-rimmed glass full of ice.  Drink.  Slowly.

OK. I MUST say a few things.

  • This is a strong drink.  Too many and you’ll be wearing a lampshade.  Pace yourselves, people.
  • This is not a sweet drink.  Go to Chili’s or On the Border if you want a sweet margarita.  You won’t find one at my house.
  • You can double it and pour two drinks at once, but don’t forego the shaker.  That’s where the heat comes from.  All that shakin’ goin’ on.
  • Margaritas should have salt on the rim.  Just sayin’.

Now THAT’S a good margarita!
