Creative DIY Graduation Announcements

High school graduation season is coming and that means it’s time to send out graduation announcements. If you’re like us, the pitch from the school sanctioned vendor for an invitation and announcement package deal – generic logo with school name on the front, standard graduation information and a place for a name card on the inside – left you a bit cold.  Likewise, hiring a professional to design a custom announcement/invitation doesn’t seem quite right either.

We wanted our kids’ (we’ve been through five high school graduations so far) announcements to let the personality of our graduates shine and let the recipients know about their recent accomplishments and future plans. That’s why we created our own custom announcements.  All you need is:

  • Microsoft Word
  • Glue stick
  • Paper cutter
  • Paper and embellishments
  • Photographs of your graduate

Here are some examples to spark your creativity:

the "she did it" letters were a free font

kinda classic, kinda hip - a perfect combination

the personalization is great for long-distance friends and family

Here are links to step-by-step directions and a template if you want to try this yourself.  Have fun!
