Quick & Easy Holiday Decorating

In my younger, more ambitious years, I spent days decorating for Christmas. Nowadays, simple is the life for me. (Part of this is due to the fact my family is very excited to help get ready for Christmas but everyone disappears when it’s time to put it all away.) Nowadays, aside from the tree, my primary holiday decor is greens and lots of votive candles.

Classy Simple Holiday Decorating

However, in my roaming the internet searching for gift ideas, I’ve come across some fun, creative and best-of-all, simple holiday decorating ideas. I’m especially drawn to things that look wintery so I can leave them out into January. If you are looking for some inspiration check these out:

  • Pinecone Table Top I love these pinecones set in a variety of containers on a red table runner. This version is even easier.
  • Shimmering Streamers This is a bit more involved DIY project. Joan made them last year and hung them over her kitchen sink. They were beautiful. Added bonus: they are not Christmas specific, you could keep them hanging through the winter.
  • Evergreen Tips in Vases or Glasses About as simple and elegant as it gets.
  • White Tipped Pinecones in a Bowl This requires a little work, painting the tips of the pinecones. A great project for your teen or college student.
  • Vase Lights Take any glass vase, fill with a short string of Christmas lights (white wire looks best.) Violá, holiday magic.
  • Evergreen Place Cards Another little DIY project, perfect for teens to help out with. Classy and lovely.

Oh Christmas Tree

Today I came across this column on Houzz. If you’re looking for some Christmas tree inspiration you’ll find plenty of it here.

You hit my two favorite decorative pieces for the holidays– evergreen and pine cones (pretty popular, but I like them a lot)! I really like decorating my outdoor lamp post and I found a new idea for this year from a cute blog— decorating my porch swing! I think some of your tips will help out there, so thanks!
