My daughter, Julie, is the queen of organization. When she left for college she created a packing list. Now known as “the list,” every summer I get numerous calls from friends with students heading off to college asking, “Do you have a copy of Julie’s list? Can I have it?”
When Joan and I started writing this series, I called Julie and asked her to recheck “the list.” Julie and her fellow teammates on The University of Nebraska Swim Team looked it over and made more additions. (Thanks to all!) If you use the list, your student might forget one or two small things but I can guarantee it’s pretty darn complete. Note: it’s created by girls…guys will obviously not need some of the things on the list. So here it is, Julie’s Uber-Complete College Dorm Packing List.

This is a great post and I really like how you have links to the series. I wish I had info like this when I was in college!
Too bad Jonny isn’t that organized!
This is the most practical, comprehensive list I’ve seen! Thank you for the great advice
Ziplock bags? Totally would have forgot them! Same goes for the paper towel and dixie cups as well. Thank you
What a great list! The first year my son went off to college we did not have everything he needed. Your list will make it so much easier to get my daughter off to college. We took your list and shopped at http://www.dormco.com/?Click=18851 and found almost everything that my daughter needed (except for the medicine and computer of course) and are having it shipped directly to her school. Luckily all we will have to do now is pack all of her clothing, accessories, things from home and of course get food! Thanks again
