Useful Websites – Lifehacker

by Nancy on March 12, 2010

It’s pretty overwhelming to sift through the amount of information available online. In my ramblings across the world wide web, I’ve bookmarked hundreds of sites I’ve never gone back to. Since Joan and I are in the blogging business ourselves, we are continually looking and searching to see what’s out there. We look at blogs and websites all the time, lots and lots of them.

Today I want to share one of my all-time favorite, useful blogs, one I check out practically everyday. It’s so useful it’s one of the most top-linked blogs in the world.  It’s called Lifehacker. It’s purpose is best summed up on its About page, “an award-winning daily blog that features tips, shortcuts, and downloads that help you get things done smarter and more efficiently.” Lifehacker and its sister sites, Windows (info specific to Windows users), Mac (info specific to Mac users) and Gizmodo (guide to technology gadgets) publish over 20 tips every single day.

I’m trying to work on my photography skills with my inexpensive Kodak point and shoot camera. Today they posted this excellent article on that very subject. From Lifehacker I learned about rental textbooks for college students, something that has saved my kids hundreds of dollars. (Which I’m assuming they appreciate since they get to pay for their books.)

A fun way to explore this website is to start with the “Best Of” lists. Click here to see their “Great Best of 2009” topics. Another thing I love about this site is that you can learn as much from the comments as you can from the articles. Lifehacker has something for everyone. It’s definitely just the right thing!
